We The People 08/27/06: latest email sent to the whitehouse
Greetings to you who are in leadership in this country,
We the people demand change. We demand a reduction of troops to the complete pulling out of the Iraq theatre.
We demand that you the leadership stop propagandizing, stop grandstanding, and start doing your jobs.
We demand a comprehensive domestic policy to address such issues as energy use and cost, education reform beyond no child
left behind, and the conservation of our environment.
There are many issues that could be addressed if you the leadership would stop worrying about getting elected and start
worrying about our country.

It's Time to Get Involved
letter
to the editor of the Canon City Daily Record
10/07/03
Dear
Editor,
I would like to bring to the attention of our local community the fact that in 1998 and again in 2002 the United Nations
declared the period from 2001 to 2010 the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children
of The World.
I would also like to point out an interrelated fact. October is Domestic
Violence Awareness Month. In the Canon City area the Family Crisis Center
provides services to about 400 victims of domestic violence every year and nationally about 3 million children are exposed
to domestic violence yearly.
The addressing of and decreasing of the incident of domestic violence has a direct impact upon how our children grow
up. Will we raise yet another generation of violence or will we begin to create
a culture and generation of peace? The actions taken right here in Fremont County
or any other local area around the country, to decrease the incident of domestic violence and create a culture of domestic
peace has direct impact upon the global community and history.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization has stated, since wars begin in the minds of
men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed. Each
person, who reads this must begin to analyze and change their violent behavior based upon the changing of core attitudes and
values. There must be a root acceptance of peace as a way of life and disregard
for violent behavior.
Its just not right for men to beat women; its just not right for children to be physically violent with elderly parents;
Its just not right to strike your children in the name of discipline, so stop it!!
All people have the right to live peaceful, safe environments and we as humans are not, according to the Seville
Statement on Violence, genetically inclined to act aggressively and violently toward one another.
It is my vision to see peace develop between spouses, children and parents, men and women, neighbors, ethnic groups,
and economic classes.
One
way we can begin to address the creation of peace is by not exposing our children to violence in the form of domestic abuse
and violence. The home should be the safest place a child knows, not a nightmare
of existence. If you think, its ok to hit your spouse; to yell and degrade your
spouse, to throw things at your spouse; to make fun or your spouse; if you think that you are superior and are to be served
by your spouse or partner; if you think its ok to deprive your spouse or partner of freedom, money, affection, or support,
I say you are sorely wrong and need help, because you are directly contributing to the decline of western civilization through
the perpetuation of violence. Stop it!!
I invite everyone who reads this to get involved with creating peace in our community.
You can make donations to the local crisis center. Call them at 719-275-2429
to find out what they need and where to bring donations. I know they are in need
of single bunk beds, linens, childrens toys, diapers, canned goods, and monetary donations.
You can choose to volunteer at a crisis center or get trained to work on a crisis hotline. You can write letters to local newspapers. With the internet
you can even send emails to heads of state around the world.
In closing, the creation of peace begins at home and one way to do so is by observing October as Domestic Violence
Awareness Month and making a donation to a local domestic violence or family crisis center.
Perhaps one day well be able to observe Domestic Peace Awareness month instead of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The Secret Society For Peace Formally request that you the President of the United States or
you designee make a formal, national recognition of the observance of Domestic Violence Awareness month during this
month of October 2003. Please, make note of the impact of domestic violence on the up and coming generations of children
and encourage the nation to work towards a reduction in the number of domestic violence victims over the next year in an attempt
to establish a culture of peace as defined by the United Nations in 1997 and 2002. Domestic violence has direct impact
on the behavior and growth of our children and when children are exposed to violence within the home the perpetuate as the
grow to adulthood. As a generation is raised in violence su it supports violence thus degrading attempts to create a
culture of global peace.
