Beliefs of The Secret Society For Peace

Creed

To Create Peace, Instead of Destroying Conflict

To Pursue peace when others will not.

 

Beliefs

1.  It is beholden upon us to raise up the next generation as a generation of peace

2.  It is right to promote peace in word and deed.

3.  The discipline of a child is good but violent or aggressive physical discipline is not.

4.  Emotional violence is as damaging as physical violence

5.  Childrens primary needs are for safety, security, and structure none of which can be achieved through violent or aggressive physical or emotional interaction.

6.  World peace will not be accomplished through war.

7.  World peace will not be accomplished through activism.

8.  World peace will not be accomplished through protesting

9.  World peace will not be accomplished through guns or weapons

10.  World peace will be accomplished one peaceful relationship at a time; one child at a time; and one changed attitude at a time.

11.  Reality-based television violence should be avoided and denounced.

12.  Individual sports competition such as track and field, golf, triathlon, cycling, swimming, skiing, should be promoted over aggression oriented team sports.

13.  Reality based combat sports such as boxing, wrestling, pancrase, no-hold-barred, and martial arts should be entered into with caution and mentoring.

14.  A study of history and the peaceful people of history should be promoted.

15.  Creativity, teamwork, and emotional maturity should be promoted.

16.  Men are not by nature or necessity violent or aggressive.

17.  We as a collective whole should seek to promote peace within ourselves, our families, our communities, our cities, our regions, our countries, and our world.

18.  We should seek peace with ourselves, our human brothers and sisters, our environment, and our faith.

19.  Positive reinforcement of positive peaceful behavior is more effective than punishment of aggressive violent behavior.

20.  Spare the rod and spoil the child does not refer to striking a child.  It does refer to providing nurturing discipline through physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual structure safely done through mentoring, guidance, and grace.  Beating children only creates beaten and violent children.

21.  We must live as examples of peace.
